The problem with the 'big' questions about the origen of the universe, life and its meaning etc
is that it distracts from the reality of IT DOES NOT MATTER.
Just get on with LIFE as we know it.

miller and russell... the best laugh i've had for a while

the history of miller and his teachings, barbour being a millerite and a guide to the then young russell cemented the truth of the modern day wt organizations history as opposed to its own whitewashed version of history.. for 37 years i saw them as the one true religion.
now i just see them as total frauds.

William Miller + Nelson Barbour + Charles T Russell + Rutherford + Fred Franz = Jehovah's Witnesses.
Laughable history and certainly NOT UNIQUE.
Disgust at the fact that 99.9% of them will never know it.

40 the time that the israelites had lived in egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
41 at the end of four hundred and thirty years, on that very day, all the companies of yahweh went out from the land of egypt.. the problem is that this is at odds with the genealogy in exodus 6:16-20:.

The admonition to think carefully about children was important to us.
we waited for 8 years before having children, and reg pioneered for close to 4.
wife simply declared one day that she was no longer willing to wait and wanted to raise children.
we had two.
they are now 13 and 16

Your guilty pleasures...
by MrFreeze inwhen you were a witness, or if you still are, what types of movies/games/tv shows/books/other activities did you enjoy that the society might not find too appropriate for jdubs.
for me here's a list of things i enjoyed that wouldn't have made the friends too pleased but that i rather enjoyed.. movies: all the best movies are rated r. whether it be language, violence, or sex.
you'd be hard pressed to find a movie made in the last 20 years that is really good that isn't rated r. some movies i enjoyed that the friends wouldn't have wanted me to be seeing: the matrix, godfather, godfather 2, goodfellas, american history x, office space, the pianist, shawshank redemption, the shining.

even though i had been 'out' for 12 years i still believed they were the one true religion.
I had a lot of worry over being on this very forum. The stuff i read really did freak me out for a while.
I decided the only way to deal with it was to take almost every issue i came across and look into each one in turn. I broke them down into basic criteria of 'true', likely true with evidence, doubtful, and not true, that would satisfy myself as to what i was learning.
I realized that not everything 'apostate' has substantial enough proofs to set it as true, and that some stuff was just lies and would actually do more harm than good in the 'cause'.
The most part i must say i found to be true. Once i came to terms with that my attitude to the WT changed dramaticaly.
